How much caffeine is too much caffeine? ☕️

How much caffeine is too much caffeine? ☕️

I’m sure we’ve all had a phase where we went around casually telling people we are addicted to coffee. I know I used to, because being addicted to something made me feel like a badass. Unfortunately, as you grow older you noticeably recognise the side effects of consuming excessive caffeine and choose to reduce your daily intake. Caffeine gives you a kick when you need it for sure, but it also causes increased heart rate, anxiety, insomnia and jitters in general.

What are the factors that determine how much coffee you should drink in a day?

  • Depending on genetic makeup, different people respond differently to caffeine.
  • Also, similar to other addictive substances, the more caffeine you consume in a day the higher your tolerance towards it, the more you need to consume to see any effect.
  • If you’ve got medical conditions like diabetes, blood pressure, anxiety or panic disorders, you should preferably control your coffee intake

How much caffeine should you consume in a day?
If you’re looking to make healthy choices, it has been suggested that one should not exceed 400 mg per day which amounts to around 4-5 cups of regular brewed coffee.

Impulse Coffees contains an average of 3.7% caffeine in a 50 grams bottle. This translates that one serving consists of 0.148% or 75 mg of caffeine. While we don't encourage you to have 5 cups of coffee everyday, but a couple of cups a day should be well within the recommended amount.

How do I cut down my coffee intake?
Well, there’s always two ways you can go with it. You can either stop cold turkey, which may cause caffeine withdrawal symptoms or you can gradually reduce your intake and allow your body to adjust to it.

As a coffee lover myself, I
 would surely recommend the latter!
